Lauran Hawker, Coach

Lauran Hawker is a recently retired educator, following 30 years of public school service in the San Francisco Bay area. Ms. Hawker spent the first decade of her career as a classroom teacher, then moved into administration and served in three school districts over 17 years. She first attended The Breakthrough Coach training in 2004, which transformed her approach to leading learning for the remainder of her administrative career.

During her 12 years as an elementary principal in three districts, her schools earned numerous distinctions including being named a National Model PLC School, a California Golden Ribbon School, and 2015 California Honor Roll school. Her California Honor Roll school also received a prestigious, national award for its increased student performance in all significant subgroups between 2013 and 2015.

As a District Coordinator for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, she fundamentally changed the district’s K-12 English Learner and Secondary Literacy programs by increasing literacy test scores across all grade levels in two years. Her implementation of The Breakthrough Coach Fundamental Practices made it possible for her to spend two full days each week in the district’s 26 schools and effect dramatic changes there.

Ms. Hawker earned her B.S. from U. C. Berkeley, her California Teaching and Administrative Credentials from Sonoma State University and Chapman College, and her M.S. from the University of Michigan.
