Dr. Tammy Boyette is a career educator with over 30 years experience in public education. Early in her career, she was a teacher, department chair, and very successful head volleyball and track coach before moving into school administration as an assistant principal. During her second year as a principal in 2006, her mentor (and boss) required the entire leadership team to attend The Breakthrough Coach foundational course with the expectation that the practices be implemented district wide. This would prove to be the cornerstone for Tammy’s management style for the duration of her career regardless of the setting in which she served: from rural to urban and suburban; in both small and large districts with both wealthy and economically disadvantaged student populations. While many things in education changed throughout her Administrative career, Tammy will tell you that the one constant was her disciplined commitment to the principles of The Breakthrough Coach management system.
From 2005-2023, Tammy served thousands of students, first as a Middle School Principal at a campus which earned a Texas Recognized School for the first time under her leadership and for that work, she was also named Principal of the Year. In 2010, Tammy was tapped to open Ridge Point High School in Fort Bend ISD. Under her leadership, RPHS finished ranked #4 in the state of Texas Lone Star Cup for best all-around high school which brought the opportunity to move from campus-level leadership to district-level leadership, serving first as a Deputy Superintendent and most recently as a Superintendent. In each of her leadership roles, educational outcomes for students have improved and building quality instructional programs has been the focus of her work. Tammy believes the envisioned student experience should be the focus of every decision and effort the District makes – from the board room to the classroom. The key to her success lies in cultivating aligned systems to train, develop and evaluate people and programs, measuring their success against the growth of students. Tammy credits her great career mentors and the TBC management practices with making it all possible.
Boyette earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University (suma cum laude); obtained a master’s degree in administration supervision from the University of Houston (suma cum laude); and her doctorate of education (Ed.D) was conferred from University of Houston with a focus on educational leadership and policy studies.
As a recent retiree, Tammy founded The Oskie Group consultant agency with clients such as: Linebarger Law group, The Breakthrough Coach, and the Texas Education Agency. Tammy is married to John, a retired CID detective and SWAT team commander; she has four children and is a new grandmother (aka “Sweet T”)! She loves to travel- most recently to Portugal and Montana. Boating on the family pontoon The ParTee, fishing, golfing and pickleball are at the top of the list of her favorite activities. On a fun note: Tammy is a voracious reader, a 2024 Amazon Top 100 published author of “When Myles Smiles” and one who loves chips, cheese, chocolate and spending time with her two fur babies: Buffy & Brady.
